Grand Royal Group International’s CSR Programs

Grand Royal Group International (GRGI) has always been maintaining a high level of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which will contribute to sustainable development by delivering economic, social and environmental benefits to all stakeholders, staff, customers and most importantly the people of Myanmar in line with our motto “Being A Good Corporate Citizen”. Starting from 2023, in line with ThaiBev’s transformation 3.0 project, Passion 2030, GRGI implemented CSR projects in the most needed areas where we have reciprocal benefits with the communities.

Young CEO Program 2024

As an extension of GRGI’s existing education initiative called, “Life Skills for Youth” program, we decided to leverage the acceleration of this program with the “ABE UK Endorsed kidsMBA” course, with the customized training named “Young CEO Program” in partnership with Kudos To You Academy. Recognized globally, the ‘ABE UK Endorsed kidsMBA’ modules are designed to unlock the potential of future entrepreneurs by providing an exceptional introduction to business for an age group typically not exposed to such expertise. For the youngsters of GRGI employees, we successfully conducted the first batch of the “Young CEO Program” in May 2024 and the second batch in July 2024, with a total of 24 students aged 13 to 18 participating across both batches. One of the students sponsored by the Grand Royal Group in the Young CEO Program, KidsMBA Batch (1), Mr. Khant Zin Thaw, 14 years old, won the 2024 Future Entrepreneur of the Year award with his environmental sustainability project called “TrashFormers.”

GRGI Internship Program in 2024

In 2024, a total of 6 interns were hosted by GRGI in the departments of Manufacturing, Marketing, and Human Capital. These internships are part of GRGI’s commitment to fostering young talent and providing valuable industry experience. The interns have been involved in a range of tasks, from assisting in the development of new manufacturing processes to supporting marketing campaigns and enhancing human capital strategies. Their presence brought fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the teams they worked with, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. The interns have successfully completed their programs, leaving a lasting impact on the organization and paving the way for future internship cohorts. GRGI is proud to support the professional growth of these young individuals and looks forward to continuing this tradition of nurturing future leaders.

GRGI’s Contribution for the Bicycle Donation Organized by Singapore Association of Myanmar

GRGI supported the educational journey of students living on the outskirts of Yangon by donating bicycles worth 3 million kyats. This initiative, in collaboration with ‘Any Wheel’ and lesswalk.org, and facilitated by the Singapore Association of Myanmar (SAM), aims to ensure that these students have a reliable means of commuting to school. By providing these bicycles, we are not only addressing transportation challenges but also promoting regular school attendance and reducing dropout rates. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and supporting the communities in which we operate. We believe that access to education is a fundamental right, and through partnerships like these, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of young students.

28th Anniversary Donation for the Communities Nearby Yangon Distillery and Mandalay Bottling Plant

The year 2023 was the 28th anniversary of Grand Royal Group International. To commemorate our company’s anniversary in April 2024, GRGI raised internal funds contributed by our beloved employees as well as by the company to donate basic commodities for the communities in the proximity of Yangon Distillery and Mandalay Bottling Plant. The donation ceremony was held on Friday, April 5, 2024, and was attended by our Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Quality Assurance Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Department Heads, GRGI employees, respective village heads and the locals from 5 villages in Hmawbi Township. GRGI has been repeating the tradition of this good course since the celebration of the 25th anniversary in 2021.

GRGI’s Welfare Program for Its Employees and Communities Living Around Sales Branches

At GRGI, we are committed to the well-being of our employees and the communities surrounding our sales branches. Our Welfare Program is designed to provide comprehensive support and foster a positive impact on both our workforce and the local communities. Through these initiatives, GRGI aims to create a supportive and thriving environment for both our employees and the communities in which we operate.

Updates on the Solar Energy Irrigation System for Local Farmers at San Hpe Model Village

As initially expected, the local farmers from San Hpe Model Village could cultivate twice in 2024 in both summer and monsoon seasons, thanks to the solar energy irrigation system. After collecting the data from the locals, GRGI presents these astonishing figures to share how this good course well-contributed to the development of the local community of San Hpe Model Village in Nyaunglebin Township, Bago Division. During summer, the farmers earned more than MMK 125 million from cultivating nearly 7,000 baskets from 70 acres and earned more than 96 million from cultivating over 5,300 baskets from 70 acres.

Updates on the Solar Energy Reverse Osmosis Water System & Treatment Plant at San Hpe Model Village

During periods when paddy cultivation is paused, the surplus solar energy is effectively utilized through the donation of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water system and treatment plant by GRGI to San Hpe Model Village. This initiative aims to enhance the living standards and well-being of the local community. The RO system operates with an output capacity of 500 liters per hour, purifying up to 3,000 liters of drinking water daily. Depending on solar energy production, the system produces an average of 70 to 90 containers (20 liters each) of purified water per day. During the paddy cultivation season, locals and neighboring villages can purchase 30 to 50 containers at a rate of MMK 500 per container, resulting in a daily revenue of MMK 15,000 to 25,000 from water sales.

Certificate of Appreciation Handover Meeting for the Shwedagon Clean Water Project 2024

As part of GRGI’s CSR initiatives, we donated two water purification plants and managed the project through to its completion. These plants were installed at the Shwedagon Pagoda, an iconic attaction frequently visited by the public and the tourists, particularly during holidays. The purpose of this initiative is to provide visitors with access to purified drinking water, eliminating their hustle to purchase it while they enjoy visiting the pagoda. In acknowledgment of the donation, the Director of Trustees presented a Certificate of Appreciation to GRGI. The Corporate Affairs Team graciously accepted the certificate on behalf of the company.

Influenza Vaccinations for Employees in 2024

In alignment with our core value of ‘Care for Stakeholders,’ GRGI consistently prioritizes the physical well-being of all employees. Accordingly, GRGI has been providing annual influenza vaccinations to employees nationwide. In 2024, in collaboration with Dr. Vaccine Clinic, GRGI organized a series of Influenza Vaccinations, ‘Vaxigrip Tetra,’ for over 2,000 employees at the Head Office and other branches where GRGI operates.

Medical Check-Up for Employees

We offer regular health check-ups, wellness programs, and access to medical facilities to ensure our employees maintain good health. By prioritizing the health and well-being of our employees, we aim to create a productive and supportive work environment that fosters overall wellness and job satisfaction.

GRGI’s Charity Clinic at Leik Poke Village in Hmawbi Township

The GRGI charity clinic that is located at Leik Poke Village in Hmawbi Township is operating effectively. In 2024, GRGI provided medical services to 1,182 patients comprising of 363 male and 819 female patients, respectively. The purpose of having the charity clinic at Leik Poke Village is to support the community free of charge in the vicinity of the Hmawbi Plant.

GRGI Donates Essential Items and Appliances as Rehabilitation Efforts to Aid Flood-Affected Families

The GRGI family was profoundly moved by the immense suffering endured by our people across numerous regions, ravaged by the catastrophic flooding brought on by Typhoon Yagi. Our hearts ached in unison with those who faced such devastating losses. In a gesture of solidarity and compassion, GRGI joined hands with local charity organizations to donate essential items and household appliances upon several flood-stricken families in regions such as Tharwuthti, Tatkon, Lewe, Yamethin, Pyawbwe, Kalaw and Inle. This humble contribution was a testament to our unwavering commitment to aiding those in need.

GRGI Supports Financial Assistance for Flood-hit Employees

As GRGI has branch offices across the country, our employees from various regions were significantly impacted by Typhoon Yagi. In response to their rehabilitation needs, our Human Capital Team arranged financial assistance to both permanent and daily wage employees. Recognizing the severity of their losses, we categorized the extent of damages as follows to facilitate appropriate financial support:

  • Employees whose homes were completely destroyed.
  • Employees whose homes were partially destroyed.
  • Employees whose homes were flooded and rendered uninhabitable, or whose homes were flooded but remained habitable.

Quarterly General Donations Highlights

As part of our CSR initiatives in 2024, our offices, bottling plants and distilleries in Yangon and Mandalay engaged in regular monthly and quarterly donations to support the communities. We provided financial aid and essential supplies to local religious institutions, helping them maintain their facilities and support their activities. Moreover, during major religious festivals, we contributed to the celebrations by donating food, clothing, and other necessities to ensure the community can partake in these important cultural events. Through these quarterly donations, GRGI reaffirms our commitment to the well-being and development of the communities we serve. We believe that by supporting these communities, we can contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of the regions around our operations.
