Grand Royal Group International celebrated its 25th anniversary with the people of Myanmar and being the recipient of the President’s Tax award for the 5th year running

Grand Royal Group International (GRGI) is Myanmar’s leading alcohol beverage company with many iconic whisky brands. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. With its experience of over 25 years in the industry it is the undisputed leader of the alcohol industry in Myanmar and the region. Not only has it won local awards but GRGI’s brands and products have been listed as within the top whisky brands in the World.

U Aung Moe Kyaw, Co-chairman of GRGI said “I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Mr. Rahul Colaco on board. GRGI has consistently been one of the top taxpayers in Myanmar over the last 5 years. We have also won the Prestigious President’s Tax Awards for the last 5 years. We take our tax obligations very seriously and recognise the importance of tax contributions towards the government’s tax income. We have contributed 113.9 billion MMK in license fees, duties and taxes last year.”

“We have earmarked funds for product development, research, quality control and community involvements for 2021. The top priority has and will always be the investment in our customers, staff, partners, and the local communities. We have purchased hundreds of thousands of tonnes of broken rice yearly from the local Myanmar farmers, bringing in billions of MMK into the local farming economy.” stated Mr. Rahul Colaco, CEO of GRGI.

In  accordance with the company’s motto of “Being a Good Corporate Citizen”, following the guidance of National Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 and Ministry of Health and Sport, since the beginning of the first wave, as a show of support towards the people of Myanmar, we donated 200,000 bottles of hand sanitizers worth of 500 million MMK, to hospitals, Quarantine canters, Monasteries, Nunneries and local NGOs supporting the pandemic relief efforts and Furthermore, we donated essential commodity such as masks, rice and cooking oils to under privileged communities during this difficult time. Moreover, the company donated 600 COVIFOR Remdesivir injections manufactured in India to treat 100 critically infected patients to the Department of Medical Research. Recently to commemorate its 25th anniversary ,the company donated  200 Million MMK to the  National Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 for the purchase of vaccines via UMFCCI and in order to continue the business operations with New Normal, the company participated in “STOP COVID-19 Yellow Campaign” initiative led by the Ministry of Health and Sport and Yangon Regional Government.

Not only did the company focus in the  community efforts here in Myanmar but its majority shareholder, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, donated over 20,000 pieces of surgical masks , 100 litres of 72% alcohol and 20 bottles of alcohol gel to His Excellency U Myo Myint Than, the Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand at the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Bangkok. According to the record by the end of 2020, the long running campaign on providing free eye treatment helped over 74,000 patients who could not afford sight-saving treatment. And we continue working hard to bring clean water to villages and poor districts through the provision of wells, supporting facilities and education and have brought accessing drinking water for over 12,379 Household and over 73,334 residents in 131 villages across Mon state, Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, Bago and Magway regions.

The company is also very proud that its staffs have reciprocated and the company was awarded as one of the winners of “Best Companies to Work in Myanmar 2020, BCIM” powered by Job Net Myanmar Co.,Ltd as well as “Overall Best of the Best” under local organization category and another five categories under different areas of strength in Myanmar Employer Awards 2020 This is the third consecutive year of participation in MEA 2020 and GRGI competed for five categories of Myanmar Employer Awards 2020 and received awards in all five categories.
